About Consumable Materials Sales

IDeATe students are able to purchase various consumable materials (such as plywood and acrylic) from the IDeATe Lending Office. This offers students the convenience of having quick access to materials to use the same day in their projects.

Purchases will be logged at the Lending Office at the time of checkout. When you purchase materials at IDeATe Lending, you will receive an emailed receipt.  Charges for items will be submitted to student accounts on a regular basis and will appear on statements as “IDeATe materials fee.”

The IDeATe Lending Office is located in the basement of Hunt Library directly across from the elevator, in room A29. Check the current hours.

Consumable materials return policy

• Materials can only be accepted for return if they are unused and in “as new” resalable condition.
• Defective materials must be returned within 24 hours of purchase (or next business day during summer operation).
• All returns are subject to verification of the original purchase by IDeATe administrative staff.

Eligibility

Any student who takes an IDeATe course in Hunt Library may purchase consumable materials at the IDeATe Lending Office for academic use. IDeATe students can maintain this access through the rest of their time as a student at Carnegie Mellon.

Please note, this resource is primarily stocked to accommodate the needs of IDeATe students in IDeATe classes, and is not a storefront. Purchasers must have their Carnegie Mellon ID card ready to present when purchasing material from the Lending Office. IDeATe does not accept Oracle strings, cash, or any other payment form for individual consumable material sale. For those wishing to obtain material for projects outside of IDeATe classes, please visit the CMU Art Store for individual Oracle string or cash purchase requests. The CMU Art Store carries many flat stock items, including acrylic.
