About the IDeATe Lending collection
IDeATe has a large inventory of technical and media equipment, plus an assortment of electronic components. The inventory also includes hand tools, sewing machines, and other project building and crafting tools. All are made available to IDeATe students through our borrowing system at the IDeATe Lending Office. The lending system runs much like a library where students can check out items using their student ID card.
Inventory, location, and hours
Check the IDeATe Lending collection inventory for information on items available to borrow from this collection.
The IDeATe Lending Office is located in the basement of Hunt Library directly across from the elevator, in room A29. Check the current hours.
Borrowing responsibilities and late return policies
All patrons are required to be aware of and adhere to the IDeATe Lending Policy. Borrowers must have their Carnegie Mellon ID card ready to present when borrowing an item.
Eligibility
Any student who takes an IDeATe course in Hunt Library receives access to the IDeATe Lending collection, which they can maintain through the rest of their time as a student at Carnegie Mellon.
Note that all CMU students, faculty, and staff also have access to the University Multimedia Equipment Collection (UMEC), which is subject to the UMEC Circulation Policy and is collocated with the IDeATe Lending collection in Hunt A29. Although the two collections are collocated, they are currently operated separately.
Please email any questions about access eligibility to: help@ideate.cmu.edu .
